Ten stores opened in August; Q2 same-store sales up over 10 percent

Wingstop served up one of its busiest growth months in company history. The concept opened 10 stores in August alone, which comes on the heels of a 10.3 percent increase in same-store sales in the second quarter.

Founded in 1994 and headquartered in Richardson, TX, Wingstop has more than 590 restaurants open across the United States and Mexico. This month, the high-flying chicken chain expanded with new locations in San Diego, Baltimore, Phoenix, Atlanta, Chicago, Milwaukee, San Francisco and Columbus, Ohio.

Wingstop is on track to finish the year with 70 new U.S. locations while focusing on an expanded presence in the Northeast and Southeast. With 590+ locations already open for business, Wingstop is well on its way to its goal of reaching 1,000 locations in five years. Included are international agreements to expand into Russia, Singapore, and Mexico with commitments to open 400 locations worldwide.

Nation’s Restaurant News recently ranked Wingstop as a Top 5 Growth Chain on its annual list of the Top 100 restaurants. Wingstop was also named to the Top 20 on the FastCasual Movers & Shakers 2013 list. And for the first time, Wingstop exploded onto the QSR Top 50 list.
